Getting Tulip Blooms In July - Knowledgebase Question

, I am trying to find out if it is possible to delay the blooming of tulips until July. My daughter is planning a July 29, 2000 wedding in Tennessee. She would very much like to have white tulips for it. We have been told that they are not available commercially. Have you any suggestions?

Because of the way the tulip crop cycles, bulbs are available in the fall when they are to be planted. The bulbs require a certain number of weeks of cold storage in order to grow and bloom. Then they need to grow their leaves for some time in order to build up their strength to bloom again. Finally, they go dormant which is when they can be harvested. Unfortunately, there is literally not enough time between their spring bloom and July for them to come into the bloom portion of their cycle again. Unfortunately, I think you might need to consider silk flowers if tulips are truly the only thing that will do. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
