I have 4 female winterberry trees/shrubs that were planted 4 years ago. I do not know the exact hybrid. Since they haven't produced berries after the first year, is there any universal male winterberry that can be planted to propagate them?

Unfortunately there is no "universal" male. "Apollo" is usually the match for "Sparkleberry" which is a commonly sold form; "Winter Red" is usually sold as sexed plants. You might check with the supplier for yours and see if they can trace back to the most likely possibilities for you. Otherwise you could watch your next spring and try to find a male that is blooming at the same time.
