|I'm in Orange County/LA California. Are there any tomatoes for my region that can be planted in late summer that will produce winter tomatoes?
|Flowering and fruiting of tomato plants is weather dependent. Temperatures in the 50 degree range or lower will stop production of both. Tomatoes also need 8-10 hours of sunshine each day. If your nighttime temperatures remain above 50, and you get full day sunshine during the winter months, you might have success with some of the short, cool season varieties such as 'Stupice', 'Oregon Eleven', 'Northern Delight', or 'Glacier'. All are available from Territorial Seed Company, PO Box 157, Cottage Grove, OR 97424-0061.
