| I have 50 seeds of a plant called "Isoplexsis" that is a yellow flowering shrub/hardy perennial and can find no information on propagation/maintenance. In fact I can find no information on this plant whatsoever. Can you help? |
| Isoplexis is native to the Canary Islands and Madeira, and often grown in California. The plant is similar to Digitalis (Foxglove) in it's growth and flowering habit, and the seeds can be germinated in the open ground, or indoors 8-10 weeks before planting out. Sow seeds on the surface of moistened seed starting mix and keep trays or pots at 60F -65F. Seedlings should appear in 14-21 days. Or broadcast seeds in a prepared garden bed after your last spring frost. The plants are easy to care for; water deeply and often. Cut back flowering stems when blooms are spent, and mulch around the root area to help conserve soil moisture and keep roots cool. If you want to save seeds for planting, don't cut the spent blooms back, but allow seedheads to develop. Harvest when the seed pods turn from green to straw colored tan. Allow seeds to dry thoroughly, then store in an airtight container in a cool, dark area. |
