Looking for a horseradish that I can plant at 6000 feet here on Mt Palomar. I also want it to be as hot as can be. |
Horseradish roots will be thick and pungent if they're planted in rich, moist soil. Amend your soil with organic matter to help it hold moisture, lay the roots in a shallow trench, and cover with 2" of soil. Mulch over the top of the bed to help suppress weeds, and to slow moisture evaporation. Keep the bed well watered throughout the summer and you'll harvest large, tasty roots.
