When is the best time to prune an avocado tree?

Avocado trees do not need routine pruning, but you should remove dead or diseased limbs as soon as you notice them. The trees flower in winter and if you prune live branches off now, you may lose part of next season's crop. Prune immediately after harvest if you need to remove live, bearing wood.
