|I would like to plant some yellow flowering mustard plants around our grape vines, like the ones in the Napa Valley. I have heard that they add something to the soil and are good for the grapes. Can you give me more information on this? Where can I get some seeds?|
|The companion mustard plants can increase pollination by attracting insects. Mustard plants are reputed to repel aphids, as well. Members of the brassica family release nutrients into the soil, and mustard plants are a good source of organic matter if you turn them into the soil at the end of the season. If the flowers are allowed to set seed, you'll have mustard plants the following spring without any effort on your part.
Seeds are available from Seeds of Change, PO Box 15700, Santa Fe, NM 87506-5700.
