Edible asparagus can be planted from roots, crowns, or seeds. Production will be slower if plants are grown from seed, but seed sown in the spring will grow into strong plants by the end of the summer. These plants will take about 3 years to begin producing.

'Jersey Giant' or 'Martha Washington' are two dependable cultivars for your growing region.
