Prune Lantana - Knowledgebase Question

I planted a type of lantana that was supposed to survive over the winter in our locality. After a frost, its leaves turned dry and brown. How and when should I prune it and will it start over at its base or have growth on old branches?

In my experience it is better to wait until spring and see how much winter die-back has occurred before deciding how much to prune off. Although some of the wood may be damaged by the cold it can help to protect the remaining wood to leave it on. Next spring begin pruning at the tips and work your way down to live wood. Then prune as needed for shape.
