Tuberous begonias need a period of rest between seasons. The normal chain of events is for the leaves to yellow, and the stems to wither away. When that happens, cut the stems back to ground level and carefully dig the tuberous roots. Allow them to rest in a frost-free area and keep them bone dry until new little buds show on the surface of the tubers. When buds appear, plant them and water well. They should produce new stems, leaves and foliage in time for a spring and summer flush of color in your garden.
