The only way to extend its life would be to cover it to keep it from being exposed to sunlight. The manufacturer should have projected useful life estimates for the specific material you used, or be able to give you estimated light transmission after each year of use. These are estimates or averages so your results may vary a bit. However, you will be able to see for yourself when it needs to be replaced because your plants will show a need for more light.
