I have the chenille plant. I bought the plant yesterday and it is blooming. I have a skylight in my bathroom and would like to hang it in there. Is the bathroom humidity going to do any harm. This bathroom is not used very often, only by guests. Should I mist the plant at all. How do I prune these plants? Do I cut the blooms off at a certain time? How do I know it needs to be transplanted into another pot?

The botanical name for the chenille plant is Acalypha
hispida. It commonly flowers in fall and winter and likes a bright location with plenty of humidity. Misting can be helpful but it is usually more effective to put the plant on a pebble tray filled with water or run a humidifier nearby or, since it is in the bathroom, use the shower occasionally to keep the room more humid.
Chenille
plants like direct sun during winter for about 4 hours a day.
In the summer, provide filtered sunlight. Avoid drafty
locations. Keep your plant evenly moist and fertilize only
during late spring and summer. Leaves will drop if the soil
becomes too wet or too dry. Chenille plants are bushy and
need to be pruned in the early spring to keep them within
bounds indoors. Light pruning can also be done throughout
the year and blooms should be removed when they fade.

Provide your plant with a large enough container,
and it will grow and bloom at its best. Repot it in spring or early summer when the roots have filled the current pot
