|We have a peach tree we planted last spring; It was very lush last year. But now that spring has arrived it has no foliage and no signs of new growth. The trunk is still green and the tree doesn?t seem to be dying, just in limbo. Can you help?|
It is probably waiting for winter. A peach has a certain "chilling requirement" before it can begin growth in the spring. If it doesn't get that it is very slow to start growing with only the ends of shoots and a few areas lower on the shoots beginning to push out new growth. There is nothing you can do but wait and see how the tree will do. The only long term solution is to select varieties with chilling requirements low enough for your area.
For your area that would be about 300 hours.
Thanks for the question and good luck with your peach trees.
