| Is it possible to propagate a pencil plant and if so how? |
| The only pencil plant that I am familiar with is commonly called a pencil cactus, (Euphorbia tirucalli). This succulent is not prickly like a cactus, but instead a twiggy erratic green plant! Rootings are easy with this plant. Take a good hunk for a cutting, a piece about 8 inches long that has several twigs branching out. Dip the cutting in a growth hormone, place in a pot of perlite, and keep damp until the plant takes off. After it's established, the pencil cactus tolerates a lot of neglect, though it does like water now and then. It needs bright light or sun in summer, and sun in winter. This is no tabletop plant, growing easily to 4 feet tall and easily as wide! It's a charmer! |
