Freeze Bulb And Plant In Spring - Knowledgebase Question

I've heard that tulip bulbs can be put in freezer and planted in spring to flower. Is this true?

I asked this question in the AOL forum where Charlie Nardozzi would answer between 2/14 and 2/21 but they've changed their lead in already and I can't find it again.

Tulips can be chilled in the refrigerator or other cool location and then forced to bloom indoors in the spring. They need several months of chilling time in order to bloom properly however so it is too late to plant them now. Usually they are started in October.
