|Often referred to as Japanese Horseradish, Wasabi as a spice is very similar to common horseradish in many respects. Both are made from grated root bark, with hot peppery taste. Wasabi is much hotter, with an almost fiery taste and strong aroma.
Wasabi is hardy and relatively easy to grow. You don?t need mountains or cold mountain streams, all you need is good soil, shade, and moist conditions. In eighteen months to two years your wasabi plants should produce an edible rhizome about 6 inches long and several offshoots for re-planting.
