I am doing a research paper on plants and the different varieties. Would you tell me the difference between long- day plants, short- day plants and day- neutral plants? |
Photoperiodism is the response plants have to the length of lighting they receive in a day. It can influence many stages of growth and development from budding to bulb formation to the branching of stems. Short day plants flower when days are relatively short (spring or fall), long day plants flower when days are longer (mid-summer). Day neutral plants are indifferent to the length of the day and its light. |
