I love lavender and would like to grow it as a perennial here in subtropical Miami. I do not see ANY lavender being grown down here by anyone--can it grow here year-round or is it too wet? |
As you probably know, lavender is native to the Mediterranean where it enjoys hot, dry climates and well-drained, rocky soils. It can tolerate extreme heat, but hates humidity, which is probably why you aren't seeing it. As I final resort, I suggest you check with your County Cooperative Extension office to see if they are aware of any species that might tolerate your humidity. They are at 18710 SW 288 St., Homestead, 248-3311. |
