|My family has been pickling peppers for generations. The pepper that we use is called a "cheese" pepper. It is a round and thick sweet pepper. They have not been available for the past few years; apparently fewer people are pickling peppers and the growers have stopped growing them. I have a large garden and would like to grow my own, but have been unable to find seeds. It may have to do with the name -- cheese peppers are what my family and other Italian families have called them since I was a child, but they may have a different name. I would appreciate any help you could give me!
|Stokes Seeds carrries four sweet, thick-walled "cheese" peppers:
'Super Greygo Hybrid' -- a giant 6" wide cheese type pepper
'Super Red Pimento' -- large, thick-walled pepper
'Yellow Cheese Pimento' -- a large, squash shaped fruit
'Canada cheese' -- a miniature red pimento
