When do I plant a potted evergreen that has been inside since Christmas?

You will first need to acclimate it to being outdoors in the weather and then plant it. To condition it, wait until the days are mild and begin by setting it in a protected and shady spot and then gradually move it into increasingly sunnier locations beginning with morning sun and extending that. Bring it indoors on cold nights. When the weather has settled and the nights are reliably above about 40 degrees, plant it.
