Annual sweetpeas thrive in rich, moist, well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0 - 7.0. In your region of the Pacific Northwest, where soils are often acidic, add some aged-compost rather than peat moss to the soil prior to planting to provide nutrients to the roots and help the soil retain just the right amount of moisture.

Provide full sunshine and a support of some kind and your sweetpeas should bloom all summer for you.
