| I have seen a large bag of potting soil used as a container for growing vegetables. There was one tomato plant in the center of the bag supported by a cage and other vegetables at the base. Please advise as to what vegetables can be used at the base and any other information for growing vegetables in a large bag of soil. |
| I've never tried growing tomatoes in a bag, but I've seen pictures of just what you describe. You'll want to grow plants that have the same requirements as tomato plants. Some things that might work well include basil, marigolds, tarragon, radishes and cucumbers. It's really important to punch several drainage holes in the bottom of the bag prior to planting so there's plenting of opportunity for excess moisture to escape. The bag should keep the roots nice and warm, resulting in an earlier harvest of tomatoes. |
