|I have just received my order of English Ivy. Please tell me how to plant it. I wish to cover a 12 foot wall. What kind of soil? Do I add anything to the soil? Do I use Stakes?|
|English ivy will scramble up a wall on its own in no time at all! Provide well-draining soil and place the plants 6" - 8" apart for quick coverage. You can place them farther apart but they'll take longer to cover the wall.
You can amend the soil prior to planting by digging in some organic matter in the form of aged-compost or leaf mold. This will provide good drainage and give the new little roots an easy place to explore. Water well once each week until your plants are established and the fall and winter rains take over.
