I would like to know if a tree rose can be grown in a container and if so how do I winterize it? |
Tree roses can be grown in containers however the high graft must be protected during the winter just as one would protect a normal graft on a rose. To protect it from extreme cold you may try laying it sideways in a trench in the ground and burying it and mulching over top, or you can bring it into a very cool but sheltered location such as an unheated garage or basement. You would allow the plant to go dormant and the bring it outdoors in the spring to reawaken naturally with the season. Once you have found "the right spot" to keep the plant it can be carried over for many years. |
