| This year for the first time I have decided to start flowers indoors from seed in addition to the vegetables I usually start. I am growing impatients, petunias, alyssum, marigolds and convolvulvus. The leaves on some of the marigold and convolvulvus seedlings are curling up and withering. Any ideas on what the problem could be? The vegetables are fine as are the petunias and impatients I had expected to have problems with. I appreciate your help. |
| Well, you've got me stumped. It is possible there is some insect activity there such as aphids, so have a close look for that. Next, in some cases seedlings will curl a bit in response to foliar feeding, so make sure you are diluting any fertilizer adequately. Next, make sure that they are rooting into the medium as they should. If transplanted into a medium that is too dry or otherwise unsuitable, they may fail to root adequately. Last, make sure that you are using all clean materials, equipment and relatively sterile soilless mix. I hope this helps you figure out what is happening. |
