|The tree does exist, although that rate and ultimate size would be the upper limits of its growth range. It is currently being grown on plantations for use in paper, for example. The tree is not recommended for planting in residential situations as its wood is brittle causing the tree to break apart in storms, the roots are wide ranging and destructive and it self seeds and displaces native plant populations. The Latin name is Pawlonia tomentosa.
