I know there is poison Ivy in the backyard of our new house - I saw it last summer. I'm now trying to resurrect an old garden, and the distinctive three leaves aren't yet out - how do I recognize whether the bush is poison ivy, or something else? I don't want to pull it out if it is a "nice" plant, but want to eradicate it if it is poison ivy!

Poison ivy vines are distinctively hairy; if it is growing in bush form it is a bit more problematic and might be better approached a bit later in spring when you can see the foliage. Eradication will probably take a number of attempts, in any case.
