|I have a Salix discolor bush in my front yard that is only about 2 years old. It suffered during last years drought, but did not die. Yesterday, my neighbor ran over the bush with a truck because it is so dwarfed that he did not see it. He broke off all of the stems down to about 2 inches above ground level. Can this plant be saved, or is it a gonner? I would love to save it if I can.
|Salix is a willow relative and should rebound quickly inspite of it's unfortunate pruning. To help your shrub along, prune off all damaged plant parts, then water regularly (one-inch each week). If the roots are healthy, new shoots and stems will develop from the pruned stems this spring.
Hope your salix regains its health!
