| In the sense that ordinary liquid tea might provide some moisture for the plant, or that spent tea leaves might provide a bit of organic matter for the soil, it might possibly be beneficial. In the case where repeated applications could possibly affect the soil pH, it might be beneficial or harmful, depending on the plant. There are also cases where compost tea has been used on plants with excellent results, and there are cases where herbal teas have been used to benefit plants in special circumstances such as chamomile tea used to control damping off on seedlings. Since plants do not metabolize sugar the way we do, it is somewhat meaningless to ask if sugar water is "good" for them or not. Unfortunately, I am not sure how you would use this information in a science project, so you might want to consult with your teacher about its design before you start. Good luck with your project! |
