I'm interested in purchasing a tangerine tree but don't know if I'll be living at the same house for a while. Is it a bad idea to keep the tree in a pot and if so, would it be dificult to uproot the tree after planting it in the yard without damaging it if I needed to?

Young citrus trees adapt readily to growing in containers. Why not plan to keep your new tree in a pot (with good drainage) until you've moved and had a chance to become familiar with your new yard? Citrus thrives in full sunshine, in rich, fast-draining soils.
