I currently live in Greensboro NC which is in zone 7. However, I am planning on moving up to
a community near Ashville in the Great Smokie Mtns. I believe in zones 6b and 7a. I am a great fan of beautiful fragrant lilac bushes. Where, if at all will they grow in this state?

Lilacs have a requirement for a pronounced winter chill. If they don't get it, they won't bloom. There are some special hybrids that have a low winter chill requirement and one of these Descanso hybrids may work for you - if you can find one! Contact Wayside Gardens, Hodges, SC 29695. Phone (800) 845-1124.

Hope they can help you!
