Brown Tips On Budding Hydrangea - Knowledgebase Question

I planted a hydrangea last year. It looks very healthy except that the tips are turning brown and appear to be rotting. Do you know what could cause this?

Based on your description I am not certain what is happening but it is possible that the tips had begun to leaf out and were frosted or frozen on a cold night. If you suspect this is the case, wait until the weather settles and then trim back any damaged tips. Unfortunately, untimely cold damage can reduce flowering on hydrangeas, too.
