My friend has this plant growing in partial shade. She is not sure if it is a flowering plant or a weed. Does anyone know what it is?

The leaf veining and growth habit reminds me of Brunnera macrophylla but I'm not positive. Are the leaves slightly fuzzy or shiny green?

It is not fuzzy but more shiny green. But it doesn't have any blue flowers. Maybe next yr?

Probably won't have blue flowers if its not Brunnera. Moving on....

Thanks for your input. I told her your response and she won't dig it up. Maybe it will bloom next yr.

It looks like a violet (Viola) to me.

Hmm. Maybe you're right. Have to tell her. I saw it and the leaves seem heavier than a violet.

I forgot to say that at Hershey gardens this plant was in a bed with brunnera. It was certainly different than the obvious brunnera but must be in that family. Hopefully it will flower next yr so it can be identified. Thank you for all your input!
