Just curious...I'm sure we've all noticed the aroma from handling tomato plants and the green coloration that ends up on one's hands. Anyone know what these are?

Its all in the fuzz (trichomes). Its part of the tomato defense system. The trichomes release essential oil and sticky green stuff when they are brushed against to ward off invaders.

Both. From my own personal experience, wash your hands very, very well. That, or DO NOT use your wife's nice white towels! I'm still hearing about that 'accident' even though it was YEARS AGO! I still have them in my bathroom to ' remind' me.
