I would like to purchase an Achillea to put in an area in my front yard which will have full sun all spring & summer. Will this plant do well in my area? What I am looking for is a flowering perennial plant that will do well in my area.

Achillea, or yarrow, is a hardy and carefree perennial, perfect for a site in full sunshine. The plants can grow to 3' tall. Other suggestions include Artemisia, Gaillardia, Liatris, Oenothera (evening primrose), Salvia, and Melampodium leucanthum (blackfoot daisy).

Amend the soil with organic matter prior to planting, to help the soil drain well yet hold moisture for the roots of your new plants.
