What tree to plant? - Knowledgebase Question

Question by Rebeccagarle33

Hi, advice would be most appreciated. I would like to plant one statement tree in the circular lawn area of our driveway but can't decide. Thinking a native to encourage birds and bees. Have a drain running under drive. Prunus Avium?? Many thanks, Becca

Where is pershore?

With a house of that size.... I think a larger tree would be indicated.

Here in Georgia, I would definitely be thinking magnolia or poplar, or maple at the very least.

Bummer that the island is so tiny... Tree needs a lot of room for root expansion.

I believe Pershore is in England but Magnolia was my first thought also.

Won't the roots of a larger tree be an issue with the driveway?

An Amelanchiar would be a good choice . It has a lovely white Spring blossom which attracts bees, fruit in summer for the birds and a superb Autumn colour foliage. Not native, but does attract beneficial insects
