I would like to grow a cardinal climber vine against a south facing brick wall. The bricks get quite hot during mid summer. Can the cardinal climber take the heat?
Also, do I need a trellis or will it climb the bricks?

This vine is heat resistant and likes a full sun location, but it does climb by twining and so needs a trellis of some kind to wrap around. It is usually better to allow a generous space in behind the trellis so that the vine has room and so that there is some air circulation behind it. As the vine grows it will shade the wall and reduce some of the reflected heat. To help it along, make sure it has ample moisture and provide it with several inches of mulch to help keep the soil moist and cool.
