Unfortunately, one of the best ways is to grow varieties that are resistant to it. Other things to do are: plant them in full sun with good air circulation, avoid evening and overhead watering, remove and destroy infected leaves, apply a fresh layer of mulch periodically to cover the ground and limit reinfection, and during the late winter, remove all the remaining leaves from the bush and from the ground near it, remove the mulch, cultivate the soil lightly, and apply fresh new mulch.
