| Last week I planted Verbena. I incorporated a good quality mix with the existing soil. I have been watering lightly on a daily basis since it has been warm. I have applied Miracle -Gro twice to get it started. Now all the leaves on my Verbena are turning white around the edge! |
| High temperatures and intense sun create a heavy water demand on plants and can cause sun scorch on tender tissue. To avoid leaf scorch, reduce the water loss any way you can. Try mulching with a three inch deep layer of hay or straw and lay drip irrigation or soaker hoses in your beds to keep soil moisture constant. The color won't return to the affected leaves, but new growth on your verbena's should be normal in color. For best performance, continue to feed your plants a diluted formulation of fertilizer every 3-4 weeks. |
