Both types are fine for container growing, but the cutting geranium may be a nicer plant. There are several reasons for this. Since it was grown from a cutting, it is larger to begin with, possibly with more branching already developed. It should also be consistent from plant to plant so several of the same type will be of the identical color and growth habit. Finally, most geraniums grown from cuttings are named varieties selected for their improved fetaures or particular color, so it may be a more desirable plant overall.
