Before we can recommend a solution, we need to figure out who the culprit is! Check your plants carefully, including the underside of the leaves. If they're eating that much, they should be noticeable. There really isn't any one pesticide that will control all garden pests, but there are several strategies you can use to minimize damage. Inspect your plants regularly - if you spot a destructive insect, pick it off the plant, or hose it off with a strong stream of water. Provide your plants with adequate sunlight, moisture and nutrients - healthy plants are less susceptible to insect and disease problems. And, at the end of the season, be very careful to clean up, remove and destroy plant debris to reduce the chance of the pests overwintering in the garden. You might also check with your County Extension to see if they can identify the specific pest and suggest controls.
