I read that to ensure continuing blooms and growth of soapwort, you need to "trim back hard". Exactly how much is that? and when do you trim? Can I divide it also? Thanks so much! |
To keep the plants compact and bushy, cut them back after blooming. You can trim about 2/3 of the old growth off the plants without harming them. This will produce new stems, leaves and flowers. Soapwort can be divided in the early spring or in the fall. Dig the plant, cut the rootmass into sections (each with shoots attached) and then replant. Hope this answers your questions! |
