Fiddlehead Ferns -- Where Can I Get Them? - Knowledgebase Question

My Dad and I used to find Fiddlehead Ferns in the woods in Connecticut, then cook them up with butter. They were delicious! I'm wondering if there is a supplier who sells seeds or the actual plants to grow in one's own garden. I realize that they probably require lots of shade, and perhaps moist ground to grow in.

Osmunda cinnamomea is the botanical name for fiddlehead ferns. A database search found numerous suppliers. Here's the only two from Canada that were listed: Cruickshank's 1015 Mount Pleasant Rd. Toronto, Ontario M4P 2M1, Canada Telephone 800-665-5605

Fraser's Thimble Farms 175 Arbutus Road Salt Spring Island BC V8K 1A3, Canada thimble@saltspring.com

The Shady Oaks Nursery (1-800-504-8006, http://www.shadyoaks.com) Minnesota
