| Deciduous magnolias are hardy in your area and are usually available in spring from larger garden centers. (The southern magnolia is not hardy where you are.) Magnolias are also available by mail order from nurseries such as Wayside Gardens (800-845-1124). Gardenias are not hardy in your area so would be grown as houseplants or conservatory plants although they may summer outdoors. These are rather difficult to grow at home but are occasionally offered at larger garden centers or where houseplants are sold. |
