|There is a n area in our yard where we would like to plant a tree but we know it will be near a water pipe are there any trees you could suggest that have roots that grow more straight down as opposed to ballooning out?

|Unfortunately, even deep rooted trees will send out more horizontal anchoring roots in all directions, so it is still not a good idea to plant large trees near utilities such as water lines.
