Impatiens is a lovely blooming annual that can be grown as a houseplant in a sunny window, or more commonly, outdoors in a shady or partly shaded location for blooms all summer. As a container plant, the soil should be kept moist but not soggy sopping wet, and the plant should be fertilized with a water soluble fertilizer for annuals or blooming plants according to the label instructions. It is possible that your plant is adjusting to the growing conditions in your kitchen as opposed to the ideal conditions it enjoyed at a commercial greenhouse. It is also possible that it is suffering from over or underwatering, lack of light, or possibly an insect problem. Check it very carefully for signs of insects. In the meantime, you might trim away any dried out or rotten parts and follow the basic care instructions and see if it improves. |
