|Thank U 4 your website - it's very informative. Does a mild solution of dish liquid & water deter corn earworms, or is this an old wives tale? Or what else can be done other than mineral oil or sevin?

|Dish soap probably won't have any effect on corn earworms. You can handpick the critters by gently pulling back the corn husk tips and removing the worms, or you can dust the worms with Bt (bacillus thuringiensis). Sevin isn't recommended, but a drop of mineral oil on the silks after they turn brown (which indicates pollination has already taken place)will keep them from attacking the ears.
