There may be several contributing reasons for this, including that a young tree will not bear as well as an older more established tree, the tree should still be in training for its ultimate structure, size and shape, the tree may have some nutritional deficiencies (or an excess of notrogen) and the fruits should be thinned to a minimum of six inches apart. In addition to correct care such as pruning, spraying and a bit of a wait, you might also take soil and/or leaf samples to your county extension (862-5995) for nutrient analysis. Also be sure the fruits are thinned. Ten inches apart will provide larger peaches than the six inch spacing. Finally, adequate water is necessary for maximum fruit size, so make sure the tree does not suffer from drought stess.
