My six blueberry bushes are about six years old and have always done well. This year several of the bushes have lots of little berries, but hardly any leaves. The have never been pruned and have not been fertilized, at least not this year. What could be wrong, and what should I do?

Unfortunately, based on your description it is impossible to tell what is wrong with your bushes because blueberries are potentially subject to a wide range of problems. The first thing to check would be to run some soil tests and make sure that the pH and fertility are where they should be. Your county extension (746-1970) should be able to help you with that and with interpreting the results. They should also be able to help you diagnose the problem and suggest controls, if any. In the meantime, if you are farily certain it is not a soil problem, you might be able to begin to identify the problem yourself by looking at the following web site on blueberry diseases.
