I have a very large oak tree with one side almost covered with a "web" like a spider web. I am not sure if I should remove or is it benificial for my tree?

If the webs are on the trunk, covering the bark like "angel hair" used in holiday decorating, the cause is most likely bark lice. These insects are not pests of the tree. They spin the web for protection and feed beneath it on moss and lichens growing on the bark.

Think of them as good guys cleaning up your tree trunks for you!
